ABOUT US

Illinois Lightning Youth Track & Field Club was founded by Ms. Kianda L. Boyd in January 2022. Track & Field is a lifelong sport, and with 18 different events, our team welcomes all to join and makes no cuts, making it accessible to any student-athlete. Our training development program builds throughout the season, tapering for the postseason when it counts. We train hard, recover, and repeat. Coaches truly care about the well-being of each athlete in achieving their own personal goals.   Through hard work, dedication, determination, and perseverance, both in the classroom and on the track, anything can happen, anything is possible!  We build team camaraderie through respect and create memories you will have for a lifetime

Illinois Lightning youth sports programs are designed to allow all children to have the opportunity to have fun, participate and learn fundamental sports skills. We strive to promote high self-esteem, personal accountability, self-discipline, and physical fitness within our boys and girls as we help them to set and maintain high goals.

The sports environment will be safe and well-maintained. Prudent behavior by adults is mandatory. Illinois Lightning Youth Sports also believes that the safety and well-being of the youth participant is the highest priority. We believe in you and welcome you to contact us with any questions you may have.

VISION PRIORITIES:

  • To help children discover their capabilities by helping them do things that they did not do before.
  • To help children build self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • To promote and encourage running as a long-life activity.
  • To provide a place where kids can be mentored to become successful.
  • To provide an opportunity for kids to get physically fit and learn about living a healthy lifestyle.
  • To prepare runners to compete in the elite level of track and field.
  • To train and develop our runners to be able to get a college scholarship.
